VORONEZH ANIMATION STUDIO ANNOUNCED INTERNATIONAL TEASER FOR THE FIFTH PART OF SNOW QUEEN FRANCHISE
Animation studio Voronezh has released the first international teaser for a new film based on the Snow Queen universe.
The internationally successful franchise about the adventures of Gerda, Kai and the Snow Queen first hit the screens in December 2012 and has been shown in more than 150 countries so far. Since its debut, the characters have been updated in line with current animation trends, but the basic storytelling principles remained the same: the story is based on universal values, magic, humour and adventure.
A new charismatic character - a naughty little wizard Ila - will appear in the fifth Snow Queen film. She is a daughter of the Snow Queen and lives in the Mirrorland. One day, Ila accidentally sets the dangerous Ice Spirits free from their centuries-long imprisonment in the sinister Lake Gao. The Ice Spirits break through first into the Mirrorland and then into the peaceful, quiet town where Kai and Gerda live to freeze all its inhabitants. Realising her mistake, Ila sets out to find Kai and Gerda. Together, the heroes embark on an exciting adventure to save both the human world and the Mirrorland. The little sorceress will have to learn to master her magic, as well as to overcome her caprices, fears and selfishness during this journey.
The animated film is produced by Vladimir Nikolaev, who worked on four previous animated films about the Snow Queen, the Sheep and Wolves franchise and the animated film ‘Secret Magic Control Agency’ released last year. The film is directed by Aleksei Tsitsilin, known for being at the head of ‘Secret Magic Control Agency’ production, and Andrei Korenkov, director of the spin-off series to The Snow Queen called ‘Wonder Keepers’, which was successfully released globally as iQIYI original project on China's leading streaming platform. Shortly after its release, the series topped the children's programme rankings on iQIYI and ranked in the top 15 among all programmes on the service. iQIYI boasts more than 500 million monthly active users, consuming 6 billion hours of content every month.
Voronezh Animation studio is engaged independently in international sales of rights to the new animated film about the Snow Queen, which has already been acquired by KLB SAS (France and French-speaking territories of Europe and Africa), First Run (South Korea) and BG Film (Turkey). The international teaser of the project has been posted on the studio's official YouTube account at the link.
