‘The Snow Queen and the Princess‘ to be shown in China
Voronezh Animation Studio summarized their work at the International Content Market titled ‘Telefilm Vietnam’ and SIFF Market, held in June in Vietnam and China. During meetings with potential content buyers from the corresponding regions, the studio presented its new projects, including the fifth installment of the Snow Queen franchise, titled ‘The Snow Queen and the Princess’. Also, an animated series for teenagers ‘The Steel Family’ was presented, produced with the support of the Institute for Internet Development (IID), and the upcoming full-length film for a family audience, ‘Arctic Heroes’.
As part of the SIFF Market in Shanghai, an agreement was signed for the theatrical release of the full-length animated film ‘The Snow Queen and the Princess’ in China. The film is scheduled for release in October 2023. The franchise’s characters have become popular in China. Earlier, all parts of the franchise were released at the box office in the region. The third part of the franchise became the biggest box office Russian animated film in the country, and the animated series «The Tales of Wonder Keepers», a spin-off of the franchise, was co-produced with the Chinese online platform iQIYI and topped the platform’s children’s content ranking upon its release.
At Telefilm Vietnam, representatives of companies from Vietnam noted the growth in box office revenues and the increasing popularity of cinema as a leisure activity among Vietnamese people, noting also that animation in this matter occupies a special place because it speaks a universal language for the whole world. Within the framework of cooperation with CJ E&M Corporation, a contract was signed for the theatrical release of the animated film ‘The Snow Queen and the Princess’ in Vietnam, the release dates are being determined. Additionally, during the discussions, representatives from Southeast Asian companies expressed the interest in co-production with Russia in creating animation and its box office potential in the region.
