“Arctic Heroes” to Be Shown Aboard a Nuclear Icebreaker in Murmansk
On October 17, together with the team from the Murmansk Information Center for Atomic Energy (ICAE), the nuclear icebreaker Lenin will embark on a journey to the lost treasures of the Arctic and the land of the legendary white bears. The premiere screening of the first two episodes of the animated series Arctic Heroes, created by Voronezh Animation Studio, will take place on board.
The project is implemented with the support of the Institute for Internet Development (IID) and the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom.
As part of the thematic event In the Footsteps of the Baby Mammoth, the audience will not only watch the first episodes of Arctic Heroes, but will also have a meeting with the senior assistant to the captain of the nuclear icebreaker, who will talk about the Northern Sea Route. A master class and a quiz will also be held.
At the heart of the new series by Voronezh Animation Studio is a baby mammoth who wakes up in the 21st century and starts searching for his mother. However, the sensational discovery falls into the hands of businessmen eager to exploit the unique creature for profit. It’s up to a group of ordinary schoolkids from the Russian city of Blagoveshchensk and China’s Heihe to rescue the baby mammoth. Their thrilling journey takes them across Russia — from Siberia and Kamchatka to the icy expanses of the Arctic and Wrangel Island.
The project features People’s Artist of Russia Sergey Bezrukov and renowned actress and singer Larisa Brokhman.
“The film is unique because it’s set in Russian reality, and the audience will recognize themselves in our characters,”
says Vladimir Nikolaev, General Producer of Voronezh Animation Studio.
